Homework Policy
It is extremely important for students in 5th grade to begin learning how to be organized, responsible, and accountable for ALL of their work. This is GOING to help them learn how to manage their time now and in middle school. Learning how to complete homework and be responsible for ALL their materials is key to being a successful student. They WILL learn how to do this and feel proud of themselves.
Grades

Students will receive a letter grade A, B, C, D, F in the core subjects.
(LA, Math, Science, History, PE, Music)

The grade in each subject is weighted:

50% Assignments

50% Tests/Quizzes/Projects

The grade is based upon a straight grading scale:

90%-100% is an A
-
80%-89% is a B
-
70%-79% is a C

Sometimes I will give a star * for completed work that is not graded.
Late Work
Depending on the assignment or situation late work is accepted, however, only partial credit will be earned.

Homework
1. Math Think Central Skills Practice sheet front and back.
All math homework is graded and turned in daily Monday-Friday.
Math is sequential learning. They must practice daily. The skills practice sheet will have already been taught by me that day. The homework will be review of the skills learned.
2. Spelling/Friday Writing Packet.
Turn in Friday
Monday: 3x each (cursive included)
Tuesday: Syllables
Thursday: Spelling Definitions 10x
Monday-Thursday: "Friday Writing"
4. Read for a min of 20 minutes every day. The novel reading will be included in the 20 minutes min.
(The reading of the novel is NOT part of the district policy that states students in 5th Grade should do a MAX of 50 minutes a night of homework.
10x5 (5th Grade)= 50 minutes. They need to read with or without homework daily, and this is not factored in the homework time.
ALL students will complete their homework at different times. Every student is different and will work at their own pace.
