Some redwood trees have something called burls on them. Burls are formed when redwood trees are injured, for example struck by lightning or if a branch brakes it will form a burl. Burls are like scabs for redwood trees. Burls can look like weird lumps and can be even in the shape of faces. Burls can also be a habitat for beetles and birds can make nests in them.
